Auto-to-5 speed Shifter insulator/bracket

Okay,
Can't figure this out. I have the 5-speed shifter and the rubber boot/insulator deal, but the bracket's holes don't line up with the holes that the auto-shifter did.

I want to use the rubber insulator to dampen noise and keep out debri, etc. Anyone else do something that effectively worked? I have a bunch of rags stuff in there now, to keep the heat/roadspray from being siphoned into the cabin, but I can't keep it ghetto much longer.
