well i want to buy pistons but not forged ones as they would be overkill for me, and i was wondering if anyone had experience with pistons like these? The rings wold be thrown away basically because chrome rings = a no no and the fact i have brand new toyota rings basically.
or hell, would it be fine to use stock toyota pistons and keep a good tune? i am doing everything monitoring wise possible for the stock ecu, so could the stock ones be possible? would the heat cycles they endured so far make them stronger anyway? any suggestions other then forged or new 700 dollar ones from yota? Any input is appreciated.

If you aren't going to upgrade to forged pistons, don't bother buying new ones. Have your current pistons inspected. Save your money and spend it elsewhere.

Why the prohibition against forged pistons? Cost? What are your power goals?

Follow the links in that last post to more info.

After digesting that, let us know what else you need to know.

well after reading all of those links, i can see your stance on not going the forged route. Speed = money, but for 400 rwhp peak and around 350 daily, i just do not think forged pistons are necessary for these goals.
i do not wish to overbore either as my cylinder walls were inspected and look good enough not to overbore.
i understand on what kills engines, and i am getting it taken care of for the most part by getting a good tune. adding a few extra horsepower has just been my goal and i plan to do it regardless. the story of this motor is a complete stock rebuild, so i can just finally replace the rod knocking pos in my car right now.
so plan is to get mine inspected. Thanks for the help.
