I know there has been much discussion on this topic and i have done my best to search and try to form an opinion based on the information here, but i am still confused.
I have a 1990 n/a that i bought with the intention of swapping, and after a year or so of driving it and a bhg, i'm going to have enough money to start my project soon. this MKIII n/a that i bought is the only supra that i have had the pleasure of driving. i have never driven a turbo with an R154, or a MKIV with a v160.
my power goals are unclear at this time, as i am concentrating mainly on getting the parts to get this swap underway. i would like to start off with the best because i have read great things as to the streetablity of certain clutches with this setup under big hp numbers. i have also read that the r154 is not a very smooth transmission to drive with or without a lot of power, will the v160 be a smoother shifting/ better feeling transmission than the r154?
i have read different thigs about rear end options also, does anyone have any futher experience they would care to share about either the MKIV rear end or the 4spd pickup gears?
i am open to any suggestions as im finally getting ready to order a motor/trans. please don't litter this thread with "its not worth the money" and "theres no point unless your pushing 1200hp" as i have read all of this before. my main concern is the driveability with bpu's and the option to step up to huge hp numbers without totally changing my original swap setup. thanks for any advice.
