Haven't had time to trouble shoot yet...i'll be pressure testing the trans using the ports built into the case. In the meantime, just wanted to opinions from an outside source as I may be overlooking something. I installed the trans on Sunday to find out my speedo doesnt work and I have no reverse. Seems like all 4 forward gears work. I doubt the speedo and reverse issues are related. The car was sitting for 2 and a half years so one of the three components to the speedo may have gone bad. However, the reverse issue is frustrating. I'm dreading taking the trans out again. I suspect that the one-way clutch towards the bottom of the case may be backwards preventing any "lock-up". I'm pretty familiar with the components of this thing as it is my 3rd rebuild of one. This last time has been stretched out over many months so it would be easy to have missed something as simple as this. All input is appreciated.

I'd say testing the pressure circuit for the reverse clutches / bands is priority #1. If you're getting pressure than I'd blame either improper assembly, faulty components, or possibly a bad ECU/TCU...??? I honestly haven't had an A340 apart, but an auto is an auto at the end of the day. If you aren;t getting pressure, than maybe a solenoid, clog, or still the ECU/TCU. The fact that you're getting engagement in FWD gears suggests the pump is fine and the ECU is fine. Pressure test will guide you to the next step. I assume you have a factory manual for proper diagnostics?

Good luck. Taking transmissions out totally sucks.
