I just got my 2j car back on the road (sent the aem back to get the idle circuit fixed) and its hotter then hell so I charged my a/c as well. I originally wired my Fans (dual fal fans) to turn on when the a/c high pressure switch is flipped, then was going to wire a 2nd fan (stock condenser fan) to run when the a/c is on. I haven't wired in the stock condenser fan yet so I just set my aem to turn my fans on Anytime the engine is running.

So A/c works perfect blows cold.. But then I shut off my car. My fans continue to run while the car is off.. Sometimes as much as 2-3 minutes afterwards then eventually shut off. I'm assuming its the A/C High pressure switch thats keeping them on. (Keep in mind my car is wired like the factory Fans as far as the a/c high pressure switch) So I was looking over the factory wiring diagrams and it seems that it gets the power from the Gauge fuse. Now is the Gauge fuse ran off the Key (ignition switch) or is it ran off the main relay. I doubt the main relay is staying on (can verify, but didn't think about it until I started making the post).

Oh and a bit of ranting..
So I just get the aem back, I pulled out my spec stage3+ clutch that the disc is going bad and put in my old spec stg 3 clutch. The car is running awesome, I can actually shift easily (old clutch disc was staying partially ingauged making it a PITA to shift). The 2j runs so much smoother and better then my 7m pos ;). And today after I fix my a/c and get it running good.. My f'in twins start to smoke! I dont even have my boost controller on.. its only running like 14 psi.. WTF..ARRGG! I have another set of twins so thats not a huge deal, but I MIGHT have to repull the trans at least to lean the engine forward enough to get the rear twin off, but probably will have to pull the engine to get enough room to pull it. UHHHG! when will I get some better luck :(

And a few random pics.. I need a paintjob so bad :( gay macco paint flaking off

They do that automatically. When the high pressure switch is tripped the Aux fans turn on. They're only oon when the Coolant temp or A/C High pressure switch is tripped. The Power comes from the gauge fuse.

I'm trying to see if the gauge fuse is powered from the main relay or the ignition switch. I'll looking over the wiring diagrams and try to see why the fans are still on with the key off.

I'm pretty sure its the high temp switch that is keeping them on. Just got back from a buddys house and at night when its much cooler and the temp set at 74 (Mainly saying a/c isn't on Full blast) it shuts off withing 5-10 seconds after key off. My aem is set to turn off the Main relay 5.1 seconds after key off.

fans turn off when key is off...

I've seen the aux fans come on with the key on, plus my fog lights are wired into the gauge fuse, so they only come on with the key on...

Tissimo: They're supposed to come on when the high side gets too high but that's not going to happen with the engine off. The AC system starts to equalize almost immediately. The issue is whether on the 2J they're wired to run with the key on. Like poodles I think not but I'm not sure on the 2J. What I was getting at is I made my 7M do that on purpose because they're not supposed to run with the key off from the factory.

It quickly clears heat soak and lowers underhood temps. They're connected to the overtemp water sensor and only run for as long as needed. Usually a few minutes. Five at most. They only come on after shutdown during very hot days. Most modern engines and many older ones are set up the same way.

Nah, as I said the AC system will equalize as soon as the compressor is shut off. High side pressure will go down, not up. It's just nice to have the fans do that. Probably not needed but it's been like that for 17 years. It'd be too much of a hassle to figure out what I did in order to put it back stock ;)

Thats what I figured. I will have to look to see what is keeping them on. Right now the only 2 grounds are a switched ground on the aem and the a/c pressure switch. Power is coming from the gauge fuse on both. AEM will only have the fans on if the RPMs are over 300 rpm, so with the engine off they shouldn't be on. Will trace it tomorrow

EDIT:

Now that I think about it, I'm thinking the power is staying on even with the Key off. Is this normal? Will the gauge fuse stay powered even with the key off? Cause I can touch the ground for the fans on with the key off and they will turn on. So I guess I'll just have to switch the power to a switched power off the ignition..

Edit again:
Nevermind I figured it out. I forgot I rewired it to use the power from my relay. I'll rewire the power side to a switch power form the ignition. (run it like stock again) switched it up because I was going to do something different.. but changed it up at the last minute)
