Just finished a 1jz swap into an 86, and put a 89 turbo tach into it. The tach reads off by a few thousand RPMs. I remember some sort of resistor mod to make it read correctly. Any one know it off hand?

If its off by a few thousand RPMs then its not the resistors. The resistors is minor hundred or two off at 7500 rpms.
