took the head of my friends 7m motor and we realized that the top of the pistons didnt look like the pistons in my motor. Is there anyway to identify the pistons without out taking the motor apart. Take in mind that this is an 87 body with an 89 motor because its a dual knock sensor setup not a single. so we know the motor was already out of the car.

Dual knock = turbo block = lower compression pistons (larger dish)

Single knock = NA block = higher compression pistons (smaller dish)

Sorry about the hold up. My friend was suppose to put up pics on the thread but has yet to post them. From what I can see where the groves are for the valves , they sit out further on the pistons. The two 7m motor that I've seen the pistons are stamped with numbers on the dish of the pistons this arent stamped with anything. I always thought that the older models where single knock , so maybe these are the pistons for the 87 model. Nevertheless I will have pics soon.

guys will have pics up by tonight. Might need help uploading. My one friend said that he did'nt feel that they where stock pistons because the where polished at the top. The car was burning anti-freeze so I thought thats why they might looked polished.
