Hey alls...

Yes ive searched... so please dont tell me i need to use a search button...

Anyways,

I'm considering the 2jzge swap and turboing it in my 87' na targa.... My questions start out with... I want to keep the car atx... its the only car i own that i dont have to shift gears in and I like it this way

Will i need to get a tranny from a lexus or will the one behind my 7m bolt up?

Next... ignition/fuel system... I see most run piggy back systems or stand alones...

Is it possible to run 2jzgte electronics instead or would it be worth it? Reason I ask is because either way... im gonna have to find the electronics for everything since the car is currently na.... i see a few running 7mgte stuff but didnt know if 2jzgte stuff could work aswell or what problems/disadvantages could come of it...

I can get the 2jzge around here for next to nothing.... and a manifold/turbo is no problem.... but if I gotta run a stand alone and tack another 2k to the build costs... this might turn me towards the 2jzgte swap instead....

I'm wanting to shoot for 500+whp...

Any info would help

if youre not used to supras and you have the money to do this swap right, id say swap in a built/rebuilt 7m for starters. your car is NA right? if youre shooting for 500hp, its definitely attainable with the 7m. plus as soon as you swap in a completely stock turbo motor with bpu mods, youre looking at a 100hp gain already. itll get you used to the platform, and everything you swap in will be MADE to fit already. thats as far as my advice goes. dont know about the 2j stuff, but it sounds like youd be getting in over your head if you went ahead with it.

ive thought about the gte swap but locating a 7mgte to swap in or building the na for turbo when i cant locate the electronics i would need for a decent price seemed backwards to me...

ive got quite a bit of experience with this sort of thing... and have no problem learning on the fly... have done several motor swaps, tranny swaps, etc... havnt done much tuning and dont know too much about stand alone systems...

if i could locate a 7mgte in decent shape with everything i needed for what i could get my hands on a 2j for... i would probably go that route instead...

if you know of a place where one can be had for cheap including the wiring harness and all other swap items i'd need... please point the way

thanks for the info
