2jz gte vvti (Aristo engine) with r154

i hope i post this in the good sub fora,

im building an bmw e30 with an 2jz gte vvti engine (jzs161) what came out of an toyota aristo whas originally an 4 speed automatic, (A341E)

i encountered a few problems, i heard that this engine has an speed limiter, and they put that in the ecu. well i also saw that you can buy an speed limit defencer. but here becomes my problem

if im using an speed limit defencer or not, the ecu still needs a speed signal else he's going in limp/error mode

after some research i saw that there are 2 solenoids for the engine speed in this one, but how i gonna give the stock ecu the two right signals wile i'm running the r154 transmission?

i want to try running the engine on stock ecu

hm okay, i got a r154 with an analog speed signal. a simple rotating steel cable like an motorcycle

is this transmission useless now? do i need a newer r154 with digital speed signal? or is there maybe an other solution?

and if i get this engine finally running, what speed limit defencer do i need? HKS type 1 or 2?

Look for a 2JZ W58 gear. It has the tooth gear on the transmission end, then an electrical connector on the other end for digital speed (JZA80). It would replace this mechanical gear that you have.

The W58 gear would work in the R154, but the tooth count will be wrong and the speed will be slightly offset.

The reason why I mentioned a newer R154, is because it will have an ABS speed sensor on the other side of the transmission. If so, you could potentially use that signal, though it might be different TYPE of signal.

Pictured below is the "other" type of sensor that you are looking for. Marlin Crawler also sells these I believe, but not cheap:

wrong tooth count is no problem for me, because the car im using measures his speed on the rear differential. this signal is pure for the ecu to go not in fault mode

do i need to connect the odo trip meter between the ecu and speedo meter?
