I'm looking for a full engine gasket kit for a 1jz non VVTI....where would one find such a thing? Could Jeff watson get one for me? or anyone know where I could order one? I'd really like a genuine toyota gasket set if possible...

and if you could get me the part number for it as well, I would appreciate it.

~Thanx

did he get you the whole top end engine set? or did you buy the seals individually? If you did get the gasket set, how much did he charge you for it? I would imagine in the $300 range...is what I'm expecting...

Yeah it was like $150 + the cost of the cam and front/rear main seals and a timing belt. I would do those too so you dont have to worry about that junk down the road, not to mention the seals on my motor were not that great because the engine sat for so long.

he doesn't seem to charge too terribly much for shipping either. Very happy transaction and it's nice to deal with someone that knows what thier talking about. He's completely removed all doubts I had how difficult it would be to source replacement/repair parts for the 1JZ.

good. another person who no longer buys into '1j parts are hard to find' BS. :) The resources are here. Some people just like to cover their eyes and act like they don't see them.

I agree with you 100%....although when I wasn't sure which way to go (rebuild 7m or go 1j) I did use that as an excuse to justify not getting the 1J, but I realize now, that spending that kind of money on the 7m would have just dissappointed me a year down the road....especially considering the fact that I've already been through one motor! lol

the more and more I learn about the 1JZ the more I realize that most of my false beliefs in the past are gone....

I even chose the 1JZ over the 2JZ.....easier to install and a 1.5 JZ can be just as potent as a 2J in the long run with a lot less expense...

and it's finally starting to catch on enough to start getting some aftermarket support again! lol

sorry getting off topic here. :-/
