1J Flywheel Placement

Ok so i ordered a 1jz engine and it had a flex plate on it im assuming for an automatic. I purchased a manual flywheel for the car and when i went to take off the old flex plate things it had 2 spacers one between the crank and the flexplate and one between the bolts and the flywheel.

I was wondering with the new manual flywheel do i need these spacers. also if i do the bolts arent long enough to make it all the way through with the new flywheel. i have included pics because they always help :icon_bigg

Hey Keith i dont think you'll need to use them. If you can put the flywheel on and see if its flush with the crank if its resesed on the crank then i would use them. eh what the hell ill just come by tomarrow afternoon after class.

When I pulled the flywheel off of my 1JZ, it didn't have any spacers behind or in front of it.

Yeah, I'm thinking the spacers are just for the flexplate. I did a 2J swap with a 1J flywheel and did not use any spacers.

Do not use the spacers, they are for the automatic flexplate only!

Jeff

x2 ;)

read the mkiv manual on installing that.. or follow the steps on the arp if you bought the arp flywheel bolts (i hope you bought the flywheel bolts and are not using the auto bolts :))
