Very minor amount of coolant loss. And it was alot of smoke.
But thankfully, it has not smoked at all since, so somehow I must have sprayed water on something that leads into the cylinders.
I will still be monitoring it closely though.
Thanks again for the help.
Thanks for the tips!
I checked for steam coming out of my coolant reservoir straw when engine was hot and had someone holding pedal at 2k and did not see anything =)
Also, it just occurred to me that the reason I was blowing white smoke maybe because when I was hosing the engine bay down I did...
I think it was, but it was machined or whatever to make it flat.
I just remembered the other cause it could be, I've been running water only as a coolant for a bit over a week until i get some Toyota red. I've only driven it a few times though, is a week long enough to cause any significant...
So I was fixing my brakes today. When i finished i started the car and went for a test drive, and i notice i am blowing white smoke out the exhaust. I then smell coolant... =(
I had a BHG 4 years ago and had a complete rebuild done because of it. Could it really have gone again? the block was...
Good news,
Sorted the problem out today. It was the spark plugs! just changed them with some spares I had lying around. =)

Well, I checked my broke TPS with a DMM as per the TSRM and only signal between the E2 and IDL terminals isn't working properly. The throttle position other than at idle is sending a continuously increasing resistance signal to the ECU so from this I would assume my broke TPS only has an issue...
So, car has been running fine for last couple of years. Then the other night, let my younger brother do some learner driving, car was bucking like a bull while he was learning to use the clutch, as you do. Then as he is driving it, I notice it is missing when he accelerates/puts the pedal down...
I'm a newb when it comes to exhausts so I just looked at some before and after youtube vids on resonators and they don't seem to make cars quieter, just less "rattlely". I need this car to be much quiter than it is now, I'd even be happy if it was as quiet as stock. It doesn't seem resonators do...
Hey guys,
I've had an 86.5 MKIII since 2002, the prev owner put quite a loud exhaust on it. Its 2.5inch from the down pipe onwards then there is a big dual exhaust muffler on the end.
I am trying to make this car as quiet as possible without sacrificing too much performance. What would be...
with mine, I noticed a difference even when the engine was hot and wouldn't start, all it would take was a little rattle of that relay and she started up fine. =) And if that solves your prob, I'd get a new one.
