I bought it with rod knock on 3 cylinders and completelty rebuilt it. The crank was sent out and everything on the motor was checked at a machine shop. I have the receipts from all the work I had done and everything. And the motor went in the first place because the previous owner was an...
I'm not trying to sell the car right now which is why I mentioned that. I wanted an honest opinion which is why I mostly talked about the bad. Because honestly how much can you buy a practically new engine for? That's worth something in itself. When I'm actually trying to sell it I'll...
I'm selling my supra soon and was wondering what I can get for it. I need at least 3,000 because that's about how much I put into it as a low estimate. It's a white 1987 turbo. I rebuilt the engine about 3000 miles ago and it's been running extremely well. The turbo leaks a little bit of oil...
Is it possible to use some kind of compound that can restore leather on steering wheels. By restore I don't actually mean restore. I mean make it so that your hand doesn't stick to it and you don't pick up little flakes of leather when you slide your hand on it.
Does anyone know how good the turbo rebuild kits are and how well they get the job done? I know i've seen the write up on rebuilding the turbo itself but I just want advice on whether I should go that route or not. I'm trying to sell my car soon and I don't wanna sell it with oil blowing out...
But mine doesn't seem to differ at engine speeds or depending on load. It's like, some days it will do it, some days it won't. What kind of changes in the environment, etc. would cause that kind of a difference. Could it be dependent on how much load I put on the engine/how long I let it cool...
My car seems to be burning oil out of the exhaust at almost completely random times. It really only does it at idle and seems to only be when the oil is not fully warmed up and the pressure is higher. Because of that it made me think it was the turbo pulling vacuum, combined with the higher...
Sorry to use the word click. It was more of a thump. What else could it be if it weren't a wheel bearing or the BJ then? Nothing else in the area is loose, I checked the brakes. How much do wheel bearings cost and how difficult is it to replace?
hahaha It's parked right now and I haven't been driving it for fear of what you just said. I guess I'll replace it in the next couple days. Do you think that's what caused the noise though? If it's the wheel bearing, assuming I fix the ball joint and not the bearing, how risky would it be to...
I hear a clicking/thumping sound when I'm driving that's times with the speed of the car and is coming from the front right. I took the wheel off and tried to inspect everything. I found out that I need a new lower ball joint because it's got somewhere between .5-1 inches of vertical play in...
The Spal controller looks good but it's also more expensive than I can afford at this time I think. I need to buy tires so I can pass inspection; my funds are limited. I'm sure I'll end up doing something like that eventually, but would the hayden one work for now? Is 185 on and 170 off good...
The hayden fan control switch kits look good. There are 2 though. The preset on at 185 and off at 170. Are these not too low because they turn on before the thermostat opens? Also I suppose idealy the adjustable one is good. Do you know if you can set seperate on and off temperatures...
So my guage doesn't work and I have oil pressure. I just bought a new sender and it didn't fix the problem. I took the instrument panel off and grounded the guage and it didn't budge. My first question is if it's possible for the guage to get stuck? Otherwise, how do I get a new reciever for...
My biggest mistake is what also turned out to be the start of my supra career and not such a bad mistake after all. I bought an '87 turbo with a "blown head gasket". When I went to look at it, the belt squeeled so much I couldn't actually hear the engine but I was like screw it. It seems...
I found a picture really easily now that I had that name. I guess time blurs the memory a bit. They do kind of look like those BBS wheels....sorry. Any idea what these wheels are?
http://www.tampabaysupras.com/jayson.htm
I have tried contacting him about it and got no reply. They're...
Yeah they were ideal's! They name sounds familiar. That's exactly what I was hoping would happen. So you know what I'm talking about with the wheels then? They're not like those BBS ones at all. I think I tried PM'ing him last year and never got a response. Do you have any idea where I can...
I saw someone on this forum around last year that had a set of white wire spoke wheels. I thought they looked amazing on the white supra. They looked very fitting for an older car. I personally don't like the look of more modern extravagent wheels on this style body so I would really like to...
