Question for all of the suspension geeks....
heim joints vs. stock poly bushings and ball joints:
Driveability? (since heim joints dont absorb shock like poly bushings)
put stress on other components such as subframe?
durability?
theres two air passages that go along the side of the tranny tunnel under the carpet for heat to the back seats, that might be what the heat is coming from
today i took a closer look at the flywheel, it has little indents where the pressure plate meets up with it in some spots as if the pressure plate was what came loose, im guessing im gonna have to get a new flywheel. ill probably take a dial indicator after it to double check.
pulled the tranny this morning. everything looks fine although i found some threadlock inbetween the pressure plate and flywheel, around the bolts. thinking that this made it so the pressure plate didnt sit on the flywheel straight. flywheel bolts seem to be tight, ill probably take it off and...
hmm, thats weird. i wouldnt think you would want to use any kind of grease or oil on flywheel bolts because it can get onto the flywheel and cause irregular wear on it and the clutch disc. are the arp flywheel bolts the same for the 4age and the 2jz? i couldnt find a torque spec for them...
the flywheel bolts are arp, dont remember which torque wrench i used.
why would you not use threadlock? unless ARP managed to make their bolts ooze magic that keeps the from coming loose from vibrations i dont see how thats supposed to work
i followed the TSRM for torquing the bolts, has the driftmotion lightweight flywheel on the 2j with the locking ring, and i used threadlock too. getting kinda tired of pulling the transmission every 200 miles. could it be a balance problem with the flywheel / pressure plate?
Hey, just got back from proving grounds at BIR in Minnesota this weekend and i ran into a problem on the way back. i feel a pulsation in the clutch pedal and can hear almost describable as a knocking sound from the bellhousing and the worse it gets the harder it gets to shift. i managed to stop...
investigated it further today, did as the tsrm says to check the sending unit. didn't have the recommended size bulb to see the signal, but i did see a pulsing signal occasionally at idle and more or less solid when revved. tried running a wire straight from the sending unit to the gauge and it...
Alright, came up with a few issues with my car. It's an 89 MA70 with a JDM 2JZ-GTE w/ 7M-GTE oil pressure sender and a NA 2JZ-GTE rear sump oil pan. problem #1, low oil level light comes on when engine is running even though oil level is at top mark of dipstick. Problem #2 (pertains to problem...
hes doing it for free. i have engine mounts from the 7m and from the aristo, really all i need to know is how far the jza70 engine mounts move the engine compared to ma70 engine mounts
whats wrong with trying to save a few bucks? with the money saved on engine mounts i could buy a more awesome fuel pump or more marlin crawler bits. im not making ghetto mounts, having a buddy machine them with a haas cnc mill and was wondering if anyone had a tape measure.
so i was told that using jza70 engine mount brackets would put the 2jzgte engine in the right spot in a LHD MA70 chassis. The only thing is im a broke ass so i was gonna machine my own, would anyone happen to know the measurements of the engine mount brackets?
