    problem fixed...... long story short, im an idiot and didnt see a broken connector hiding under the power-steering pump..... re-soldered a new connector on, and plugged it in. WORKS. thanks again you guys....

    ok so there are 3 different connectors that go into the thermostat housing, what is each one's purpose?

    ok, so after looking over the thermostat housing a bunch, i noticed a connector below the temp sensor was broken off, so i fixed that and it still doesnt work.... i cleaned up all the connections i could find...... WTF???

    ok will do. also, the previous owner said the temp gauge would work for a min if he hit a bump on the passenger side...... thats what makes me think its the harness....

    thanks for the love you guys. and 510's are actually pretty easy to come by. they just need some loving when you buy them. to anyone who wants one, check out the forum i am a part of: RATSUN.NET. they have a million on there and they are pretty cheap. my 510 is currently down due to a motor...

    yeah i did the basic test already. i was just curious if there was any tricks before i tear apart the harness..... i grounded the connector with the car in the ON position and the gauge didnt move. so it looks like i just have to run along the wire and see whats going on.....
