The normal way would be to assembly the diff and inspect tooth contact. Pull apart insert shim rebuild and re-check alignment. Repeat until you are happy or its within specification. My bro works for a guy who rebuilds old F1 gearboxes and he can tell you at a glance what size shims he needs lol.

Another picture showing how a part looks from a mould due to heat checking. Looks very similar to "that guy" third photo to me.

My guess would be that the imperfections on the part are a result of wear to the die as shown below.

Apart from the imperfections the finish seems far to smooth to be sand cast.

Hey taka21, i think that wing will be fine for what you are after. It will definatly have some effect and after all your not chasing every tenth of a second. You could always attach some bits of string across the wing, then drive it along and set up a camera to record the results to see how air...
