    Differential Dilemma

The normal way would be to assembly the diff and inspect tooth contact. Pull apart insert shim rebuild and re-check alignment. Repeat until you are happy or its within specification. My bro works for a guy who rebuilds old F1 gearboxes and he can tell you at a glance what size shims he needs lol.

    w58 extension housing

Another picture showing how a part looks from a mould due to heat checking. Looks very similar to "that guy" third photo to me.

    w58 extension housing

My guess would be that the imperfections on the part are a result of wear to the die as shown below.

    w58 extension housing

Apart from the imperfections the finish seems far to smooth to be sand cast.

    w58 extension housing

I think they are die cast not sand cast, but yeah just surface imperfections, mine is the same.

    polished pistons?

Firstly by polishing the surface of the piston to a mirror finish you will reduce the surface area of the piston top by remove all the tiny dimples left in the surface after casting. The effect of this is to improve the thermal efficiency of the combustion by reducing surface area(ever so...

    rear wing height

Hey taka21, i think that wing will be fine for what you are after. It will definatly have some effect and after all your not chasing every tenth of a second. You could always attach some bits of string across the wing, then drive it along and set up a camera to record the results to see how air...

    rear wing height

Oh and the idea of a high wing is to move it out of turbulent air not into it. I think you need to do some research.:3d_frown:

    rear wing height

I have a degree in motorsport and powertrain engineering and have a good grasp of aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics and CFD so please explain your reasoning behind your arguement. Those high wings were banned because the struts kept failing, i'm not saying they are safe just saying that...

    rear wing height

    Huh? There you go lol.
  15. streetracer_258

    rear wing height

Basically to be effective the wing needs to sit in clean air above the turbulent air created by the drop in height from the roof to the boot. Depends if you are racing it because there will be requlations on how high it can be. If not then it depends if you like how it will look high up. For...

    Cusco 1.5 way LSD

All plate lsd's create additional clamping force on the plates because the spider gears and side gears will try and drive apart when under load. Therefore even without ramps there will be an increase in clamping during acceleration over deceleration. Apart from an old tyrell F1 lsd i saw where...

    Cusco 1.5 way LSD

ma71supraturbo is the standard MK3 LSD a 1.5 way because when i rebuilt mine recently i noticed there were no ramps on cradle where the spider gears sit. Most clutch type lsd's have ramps so as the cradle is turned as its attached to the ring gear the spider gear lug rids up the ramp and applies...
