Heater tube mystery/ where am I NOT looking??????

No, I installed mine after the head when doing my head gasket.

89 7m gte no start and code 14

Not sure where OP went, maybe he's waiting to get it running to post, but he brought his ignitor over and it started my car just fine. He pm'd me saying that he had his valve covers off and noticed the exhaust side timing pulley wasn't moving correctly. "I think i found the problem. I pulled my...

    earlier spoiler third brake light

That was a '89+ three piece spoiler (has separate side pieces bolted to the quarters), was it not?

89 7m gte no start and code 14

Unless there's someone closer to Tacoma so he doesn't have to drive up here to Shoreline to test his ignitor on my car?

89 7m gte no start and code 14

I was hesitant to lend you mine, but then I had a brain fart lol. How about you bring your igniter up here and we'll see if my car starts with it. Not sure if my 1992 has the same part.. you might wanna post a pic of yours & it's plugs. That'd be a better test anyways as we're still not exactly...

89 7m gte no start and code 14

You could also stick really thin needles in the wires at the CPS to test them. -edit- Nick, he said he has spark at #1 plug in post #4. but maybe he should check them all. Auto parts stores usually have a free tool rental program, a timing light would make that job a lot easier.

89 7m gte no start and code 14

Hmm maybe test it at the CPS, see if your readings change. I think I have my old one kicking around somewhere in my parents garage, if you wanna try it out. It still worked, just leaked oil. Not sure if it'll matter that it's a '92 with higher resistance.. I checked on Rock Auto and they list...

89 7m gte no start and code 14

Checked my CPS (1992 turbo) and all three coils go straight to 224 ohms. For some reason earlier cars have different resistance specs. (According to Haynes Manual) 1987 and 1988 non-turbos - 140-180 ohms (all three coils) 1987 - 1990 turbos - 140-180 ohms (all three coils) 1989 - 1991...

    Oil in spark plug valley

Yes I did read that Nick. Was just trying to give the OP other options in case he wanted to keep the cover like I did. I like how the cover acts as a mount for the plug wires, helping to keep them from moving around. Also for aesthetics and keeping the car original. I had no problems with the...

89 7m gte no start and code 14

Sorry I'm not much help.. but I wonder what would happen if you clear the code and see if it'll start on some starter fluid. Fire it up and see if the code comes back. The TSRM isn't much help either.. says bad ECU if everything else checks out...

89 7m gte no start and code 14

Timing light flashing when you crank it? RPM gauge in cluster move at all when you crank it? Open the oil filler cap. Can you see the cam move when you crank it? Or if you don't have an assistant, is it in a different position after you crank it?

    Oil in spark plug valley

I just used Threadlocker blue on the threads of the plugs to seal them (making sure to clean all traces of oil off the threads first). Whatever Toyota used to coat the cover was all brittle and cracking on mine, didn't look good. Was able to get it all off easy enough.. Looks pretty good now...

    Factory color question

Do you mean the door window sills? If so, yes they are satin black. Got a new set four years ago. I'm guessing they made them satin because they figured that's a 'high traffic' area for dirt.

Anyone know what engine seal this is?

Yeah I was about to buy one before I realized it was in the kit. Oil cap seal 12108A: 90430-37140****** GASKET*********** 1********* 1.89**

On a 7mgte, when do you need to increase the diameter of crankcase vent lines?

Could be tired/caked piston rings. A compression test could confirm that. I think if it was your valve stem seals, you'd see more smoke at start up, after the car has been sitting a while. To rule out crankcase pressure, maybe you could -temporarily- run open hoses off your valve covers. Like...

Anyone know what engine seal this is?

That's for the oil filler cap. Man mine was so toasted lol hard to get out of there. BTW I got that same Stone kit and the EGR gaskets didn't fit, or were non-existent. Same with the cold start injector. Ended up making a cold start injector gasket out of thick card paper (using sealant on it)...

    starting procedure

I'm sure you already know this, but just to clarify for anyone that might be searching this topic, pull the spark plugs so the motor can spin faster. I turned it over with the key in 10 second intervals (supposed to be bad for the starter to run it very long). Took about three times til I got...

    92 supra 7m-gte

Yea code 42 is speed sensor. Here's the factory repair manual http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK3/manual.aspx?S=FI&P=28 I'd check timing. http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK3/manual.aspx?S=IG&P=20 Could be an air leak. Pull off every hose you can get to and inspect...
