Nice vid. It's pretty cool to see how closely the cars still resemble street cars. I'm surprised the MR2 wasn't closer to the Supra since I figure the lighter weight would give it an edge in cornering and on consumables.
My R154 started to leak and dump quite a bit of fluid so I figured I would change out the driveshaft seal today. I pulled the driveshaft out, and I'm tried to remove the seal from the transmission, but it's stuck and is only coming out in small pieces. Is there a particular method to remove...
I have the Fujitsubo exhaust on mine and it's pretty quiet. Only gets loud if you floor it. The quietest exhaust would probably be the HKS dual tip system, followed by the Tanabe. If you only want a muffler, Magnaflow makes some decent ones which can reduce the sound by quite a bit.
Thanks for the information and the pictures you all, definitely helped a lot. I got the fork back in, but it looks like my master cylinder I received is no good as its not providing enough hydraulic pressure to move the fork at all. I've done the bench bleeding and did about 30 cycles of...
My slave cylinder went bad while I was driving, so I decided to replace it and the clutch master cylinder. No problem right? Well, as I was bleeding out the slave, I noticed the clutch pedal would never get any stiffer. I took the inspection plate off the transmission and the clutch fork has...
If your budget is tight, save up and buy the best Supra you can. The less you have to worry about, the better. Coming from someone who did have a modded car during college, the little things will add up and it will nickel and dime you to death. Just be patient, I'm sure something will pop up...
There really is no way to water proof a CAI. Your best bet is to go back to a short ram or stock intake during heavy downpours. If you must drive with the CAI, just avoid areas with lots of standing water.
Check the EGR to see if it is sticking. Sometimes a sticking EGR valve will cause the exact symptoms you're having: Light load bucking coupled with misfiring under acceleration.
Nice! It's gonna take me awhile to read through all the pages, but it sounds like your R33 will be a fun car to drive. Congrats on going with a JZ instead of the RB26 or RB30 hybrids that most people do.
It's going to cost a pretty penny, but I got my last set of HID from brightheadlights.com. Their HID kits are street legal and have excellent beam cutoff, and the ones I used on my old Datsun Z car were from Sylvania and worked great. Granted I know most people probably don't want to drop...
On my friend's GS300 with an Aristo swap, it's 0.7-0.8 bar stock. I think that's around 10-12 pounds of boost? I don't know about the stock boost level of a USDM 2JZGTE though.
Lol, true. My Supra has an RS*R exhaust on it, I believe it's an older GT Mag exhaust (offset muffler), and even with the silencer in, it is pretty loud. I'm actually looking to have a custom one made with a quieter muffler down the road as I can't be driving the car like this for much longer...
To the OP, I'd recommend taking a look at a Datsun Z or ZX if you're bent on getting a rwd car and you don't want a Miata or 240sx. While the earlier 1st generation Z cars are prone to rust, you might be able to find the second generation 280zx for cheap. The L series motors are fairly stout...
Technically it wouldn't be legal since you're dumping exhaust gases directly into the atmosphere similar to an external wastegate. Wastegates/atmospheric dumped downpipes are pretty loud, it's not a deep sound, it's more of blatty "waaaah" when they vent. Check out youtube and you'll see what...
Well I signed up to learn more on the 1jz motor because I'm trying to decide on whether to use that or a an RB25 for my Datsun Z. Yes it's not a Supra, but who knows, maybe I'll end up getting an MKIII later to use as a daily while I do a swap on the Z. :icon_bigg
