what is this thing on the dash?

It is for the climate control. The Supra does not have automatic headlights or dash lights. The first click doesn't do nothing, it keeps the headlights up but off when turning the switch backwards so that you can leave them up to clean or to prevent them from freezing in the winter.

    Ridiculous weather these days...

This happens all the time here, but it has forever. It is due to our positioning more than anything. The last few years have been getting odder than normal though.

7mgte block with no oil squirts??

Early 1986 7M-GTE blocks didn't have oil squirters, by the time we got the 7M-GTE here in North America, all GTE blocks were equipped. (Oil squirters were added for 08/86, the first month of our "87" models). Most of Toyota's higher performance engines from the late-80's to now have squirters...

Tokyo Auto Salon --cool stuff--- Supra Related

Not quite, different bore, stroke, head setup, and so on. Unlike the 3S, 2JZ, and 1UZ which are all 86.0mm bore and 86.0mm stroke.

Tokyo Auto Salon --cool stuff--- Supra Related

I doubt it, since Toyota has never ran a V12 in F1, but you never know. They're 81.0mm in the 1GZ, that's only 2.0mm smaller than the 7M and 5.0mm smaller than the 1JZ and 2JZ. A 5.0L V12 makes as much sense as a 2.5L inline 6.

found this cool little shift knob from a 1986 MR2

You can still get those style TRD shift knobs from the dealer, they come with a lot of TRD short shift kits. Not quite the same logo on it, but they're relatively cheap.

    MA70 MA71 difference

Toyota always does it, and it's not just for the Supra, it's not a big deal really. All 7M-powered Supras are MA70s. The VIN is not the chassis code.

anyone own a 93 corolla? or one with the same engine?

Meh, the question was asked and answered, and this is an extension of the topic ;) It fits. Yes dealerships do things differently, most of the time people simply call it the repair manual, especially now that most of it is online. Saying TSRM in real life is somewhat tedious anyways, it's more...

For what it's worth, here's the starter section of the 1993 Toyota Corolla manual.
