so i've been seeing more things compatible with the 89+ than the pre89 ecu's and stuff, so i was wondering if i can switch over from the pre89 ecu and wiring harness to a 89+ wiring harness and ecu? would i need to change anything else? thanks. -emp.

the resistor is on jumpers 1 and 2, using a 2.2k ohms one. so it should work? or no? i just tried it on another mk3 (89+) and it seemed to work...it idled pretty well but couldnt rev it...but on my car something is wrong...i keep getting code 31 with the map ecu2 and the vpc....im going crazy...

so i tried installing a vpc in the car, hardwired, but i couldnt get it to run correctly. i have a suspicion that the vpc rom chip might be wrong, all i see is E164 written on it. The guy said he is positive that its the right 550 mk3 chip but im not sure if thats true. What else could be...

yep thats wats causeing it...wat u want to do is put the fuse up and there will be 2 bolts on each side, i believe they are 10mm...take it out replace it and you should be good. Let us know how that goes.

any lights work? is your car getting power? did u check the bigger ALT or charge fuse under the hood?

do u get any power? interior lights, etc? checked ALL your fuses? did u try putting it how it was before u tried installing the kit?
