Just pick up a voltmeter if you want to do it correctly. You can get cheap ones that will work fine. Don't expect them to last 10 years, but it'll definitely work for what you want to do. You need a needle-type voltmeter for this job, and what they mean when they say "deflects" is simply when...

How track proven do motor mounts have to be? Do this: Go get some 3" aluminum solid square stock. Have them cut two 3" pieces for you. Bring to a drill press and bore out a hole in the middle Slide bolt through bracket, mount, and subframe. Attach nut with lockwasher and loctite. Enjoy.

Well, they're square. Rubber in the middle, steel on the ends. Weld strips of steel between the steel ends. Voila. Solid motor mounts.
