Since I am paranoid, I always go for redundancy. Why not buy another drive for $89 and run using the built-in RAID 1, or do nightly backups to the second drive if you prefer protections against viruses and whoops! errors.

I can say that that I have looked at the 7MGE ECU code and there are separate maps for EGR and EGR-less operation, which can be selected using a resistor in the ECU. Said resistor will also eliminate the EGR output signal.
I do not have a EGR-less 7M-GTE ECU so I cannot say what the differences...
How are you measuring fuel pressure? It should increase (relative to atmosphere) with boost. If it stays at 37psi while boost is increasing you have not got the FPR reference port hooked up to manifold pressure.
