We all have to start somewhere. I knew very little when I got my first Supra, and I still have all kinds of things to learn. Best way to get comfortable working on cars though is to learn from your mistakes and advice from others. Any questions you may have - I'll do my best to help.
What gaskets are you looking for? I don't want to berate SupraSport, but their Manifold -> Turbo Gasket and the Turbo -> Elbow Gasket really aren't up to snuff compared to the OEM Toyota ones. I learned that from experience...
Are your front fenders modified in any way? And what size tire are you running up there? I feel like the wheels I might be getting just won't fit well enough even to justify the price.
Yup - that's how all the previous meets have gone so far. I've been scoping out the area for good twisty roads too, so I'll be out cruising around after most people have left...
I am looking at a set of wheels this weekend - they're not exactly the right "fit" for a Supra, but the price is right. What do you think as far as fitment is concerned?
My Car has:
Eibach Springs
Tokico Illumina II Struts
100% Stock Body
Wheels:
17x8" Front +12mm Offset
17x10.5 Rear +27mm...
There are a couple hotels in Stillwater, but I also wouldn't be surprised if you could crash at somebody's place somewhere in MN. My parents live in Stillwater, so I don't want to volunteer guests to their place, but some others may be able to?
I'd vote built R154 - I think the T56 uses a digital speedo signal, so that would be a spendy changeover. Also, I know Rob's T56 in the V hasn't been the most robust thing ever, might not be worth the extra effort vs. R154.
Sucks about the bad tires - but that's a pretty decent time! Also sucks about your transmission - think you'll have it fixed in time for the meet?
I'm really bummed I wasn't able to make it to Brainerd, I'm kicking myself for not clearing my weekend so I could go still.
Here's a link to the meet thread, it's right across the Wisconsin border in Stillwater, Minnesota.

Here's SupraSport's google maps entry...
It's awesome to see so much interest - it's looking like turnout will be good, and fingers crossed both my cars will make it.
I may be interested in the car, or at least some parts from it that are hard to find. Could I take a look at it one of these weekends?
Going to the MN meet is a great idea :icon_bigg
Suprasport is less than 5 miles from the border, and it's looking like turnout will be great! I live in Eau Claire and Stillwater - if there is anyone in Western WI that wants to meet up, give me a shout!
