i wouldn't. there's actually optics inside that can get damaged you probably plan on doing this anyway, but i'll say it anyway. be sure to remove the electronics from the housing before cleaning it.

the oil is probably from the pcv system, if not a bad turbo. cleaning - use only a dry cloth to wipe down the electronics. do not use any cleaning solvents. it will damage the electronics.
