you can use the ipod as a flash drive if it has enough room to take your whole library. I use mine as a flash drive.

new pc will wipe ipod clean, got to be linked with the last itunes it uploaded the songs from to keep them. so to retain the songs off the ipod you gonna have to pull them off through the hidden folders to have on the new pc.
