Today: Got ALL my parts in today! Full gasket kit including, you guessed it, every gasket and seal I could possibly need, even the distributor O ring! There were no "partial kits" that had everything except a head gasket. Might have to ebay a few of my leftover head gaskets (I now have 4!)...

I'm not wanting anything that's too flashy either and would consider "Cast Iron" a nice neutral look! I'll have a look at it but think that's probably what I'll end up doing. I'm not planning on painting anything else except the block, simply because rust is not a colour I'm fond of!

The idea certainly has merit! So you don't worry about etch priming the aluminium then? My plans at this stage are to paint the block seperately so I may just have to mask off the areas I don't want paint on - won't kill me! For colour choices, I'm thinking stock black or something a bit more...

I think you'll find the new bushings will probably have them already. Also, if you're having the head fully rebuilt (and I don't know how common it is to need the valve guides replaced), I'd say there's a good chance the machinist will be able to get all of that for you.

No snap ring I'm aware of. It could be talking about the ring that holds the valve guide in the head... If it's that, you don't need it unless replacing the valve guides.
