I just repaired a leak on my R154. I had tranny oil coming out between the bellhousing and engine, plus some out of the access plates on the bellhousing. Turned out it was the front tranny seal, inside the bellhousing. A mess in that I had to replace my clutch disk because it was soaked in...
So happy that you and your son are ok. Sad for the Supra. I dread having a similar issue with mine one day (fingers crossed). Considering how old school these cars can be, compared to the new safety technologies in current vehicles, it seems that our Supra's can absorb an impact pretty well...
Well, got off the phone with Progressive and as others have stated, they do indeed offer an agreed value policy. They also offer a custom parts policy. One thing to note is that although they will insure you to a stated value, she said that they don't guarantee that they would indeed pay it...
I just changed out my front and rear suspension bushings with Energy Suspension poly bushings. I think their MKIII set is fairly new, coming onto the scene only in the past two years or so. They fit great and feel great. The price is pretty good too. I haven't replaced my subframe bushings...
I just tackled a starter problem. Definitely listen for a click coming from the passenger side footwell, below the glovebox. This is where the starter relay is located. If it clicks that means that your ignition switch and most likely, relay, is ok.
I had an intermittent starter problem...
I redid my blue interior on my 89 and I used Katzkin. They made custom fit leather covers that I used to recover my seats. I had to remove the seats, remove the old cloth and install their covers. They fit great and they have tons of options (color, texture, piping, etc). While I was there I...
Good point and I have been looking into that option too, but am having a hard time deciding what I should get. The Torsens look great on paper but I've read quite a few posts complaining about their reliability. I've looked at some others like Cusco, TRD, and Kaaz.
My main goals are to...
Jawsgear wants $900 + $200 refundable core + $90 shipping (UPS Ground). Thats for a rebuilt 3.73 LSD including new bearings, seals, clutches, and solid spacers.
I'm in Shawnee right near the water gap and e. stroudsburg.
I don't have any gauges mounted there, but I recall seeing pics a while back from someone. Looked pretty good. I've also seen a pic of someone who mounted gauges across where the lighter and ashtray are. They cut out material there (as needed) and made a fascia out of black textured plastic...
In PA preferably, but I'll take anywhere in the NE.
At least one of my bearings are shot (per this transmission place...and the noise that I constantly hear coming from the rear ;)). This shop already has my diff out and they'll replace the bearings but aren't keen on doing a total...
I put my oil cooler behind my drivers side fog light (I removed my fog lights). It fit very well.
For my oil catch can, I put that in the leftmost corner of my engine bay, where the ABS system is (my car didn't come with ABS).
I'm researching them right now to replace my SPEC Stage III (POS!). The SPEC held my horsepower, but it chatters like crazy and I just don't like how it feels. I've also heard quite a few bad opinions on SPEC clutches. I have an oil leak in my tranny front seal right now so it's in the shop...
Thanks for the responses and info. I'll give Progressive a call tomorrow. In regards to searching, I did search for the keyword "insurance" but didn't see any threads that discussed the topic but obviously I didn't look well enough. In regards to my car being a daily driver, it isn't but I do...
I'm just about done with my 89 turbo project and to date I probably have 20 - 25K sunk into it. Considering that blue book is around $2K I have nightmares about getting into an accident and watching all my money go out the window. I know that's the risk we take modding are cars, but I was...
Very cool. I'll be submitting some pics as soon as I get her washed and waxed later this week. (also have to get my grandma's Taurus out of the driveway ;))
It's time for me to flush and change my coolant and I have three bottles of unopened toyota red coolant that I've had in storage for about 5 years. Does anyone know if this coolant is still good (being sealed)?
Thanks guys. Yeah, I could probably take it out but I'm just a bit burned out from upgrading my suspension. I need a break from working on the car. I'll let the mechanic know that the top bolt is definitely a nut/bolt combo and not a threaded stud.
I need to replace my starter on my 89 so I bought a 91 starter thinking that I can take advantage of the threaded holes on the 91+ starters. I took it to my mechanic last week because I didn't feel like tackling the top PITA bolt on the old starter. He looked at it and thinks that the top bolt...
