just wanna add two things, 1. while the valve covers are off, get a feeler guage and check clearances of shims to camshaft because its hard to tell from looking. 2. it is possible it could be piston slap if the wrist pins are loose. this may only be the case for(some) forged pistons and tends go...
hey, dustin I had my block o-ringed and put a copper gasket on my 7mgte. 3 times. Here is my experience. They wont work for long! Here is what I learned after 3 copper head gaskets and a lot of work and frustration. 1.you have an iron block 2. copper gasket 3. alumunim head. This your problem...
yes it does sound right but the other 4 cylinders are still getting fuel in them from the same rail? how is that. I am off today so I will do more testing. I am going suck all fuel out of the cylinders with a 3/8 fuel line. Then crank the car with coil pack connected and all spark plugs out...
The intake was closed but all six plugs were out at the same time. the engine probably has 1000 miles at the most. and the engine was cold. I understand what your saying and thats why I took the compression but the other 4 cylinders are firing and runs ok. its just cylinder 5/6. Thanks though. I...
i am getting voltage at all injectors by way of clips. I just put a brand new injector in cyl. 6 last week because it was stuck open. I tested injector 5/6 by running to wires from the battery straight to the injector. every time I touch the ground side of the injector I can hear them clicking...
Update! The car now runs on 4 cylinders. The first four to be exact. I verified this by letting the car idle terribly at 700 rpm. it sounded like harley davidson motorcyle. Immediately after it ran I took all the plugs out and looked into the cylinders. Cylinders 1-4 were damp with fuel and cyl...
sorry supraguy to answer you question about which way the cps is facing, I had think for sure what you meant. I still am not 100 percent sure but The lip that comes of the gear inside the cps is slightly past the G2 pick up. Thats the correct position to the best of my knowledge
Yea jay this is one taking me through the ringer man. I would be glad to see you and ricky lol.... thanks man! but you know me I am not one to give up.
supraguy, the marks on the cam gears are lined with the timing cover. its the intake cam lobe thats at the 10:30 postion. yes number one cylinder is a tdc.I turned the crank by hand and used a one foot extension in the number one cylinder unil the crank was at 0 at that point the piston was at...
well jet if its so simple that means a genius like yourself should have no problems with helping which is what this forum was designed to do. if you have solutions with with constructive criticism I can handle it. but if youonly have criticism and no solutions there are two options for you...
I never said I couldnt fix it, I am having some trouble finding the problem. Once I find the problem I will fix it. Yes-the cam gears are in the center hole. yes- I took cam gears off to see if the pins in the cam were in the center. yes its its at tdc. Also did a knock sensor rewire to clear my...
yes took out old cps and put a new one in. I dont mean to sound arrogant but I have owned this car for 16 years. I believe I could time it blind folded. However The only thing that puzzles me is when the crank is at 0 on a compression stroke, timing marks matched up to timing cover my intake...
i have reset the fuel pressure regulator, efi and everything. I have an intermittent spark problem. I will have to track down where the problem is. I have new cps, coils, plugs, plugwires, new coil connectors. It will take a while to through tsrm but I will find the problem. thanks for your...
it cranks and stumbles but never gets to idle. no new codes. I changed oil before attempting to crank it. The oil was full of gas needless to say. it should be that hard. new cps, new wiring, plugs and wires. rewired afm. checked afm resistance. I guess I will rewire the IAC today, those wires...
hey guys I put in a new injector and it the car doesnt flood thenumber 6 cylinder any more. The injector was stuck open. BUt the car still wont stay running. It runs for a 2 seconds and shuts off. But its not flooding anymore. Also I noticed my fuel pressure guage holds pressure after taking out...
Thanks for he response Rollus and Indigo but I never said either of you were wrong. I simply said it would be unlikely because my injectors were sent to rc engineering for cleaning a balance a month ago. Thats why I tested other possibilities first. 2. Also 5 and 6 injector wires were crossed(my...
hey Brian let me borrow one that didnt fit. but we tested the injector at his shop. The injector was not even hooked to any power. we took carb cleaner and sprayed in it and it come out of the other end. So the injector was stuck open all the time. Now I am having to buy one 550 rc injector from...
yes I i know it was stupid. but a buddy has 2000 horsepower v8 and he told me o-ring the block use a copper gasket and it wont blow. bad idea he he had iron block and iron head. I have iron block aluminum head the properties of aluminum and copper together are bad! I learned though. I put a...
no compression as last resort because I put 2000 dollars in the bottom end alone not including the head and drove it 600 miles and the copper gasket blew. Its just unlikely. plus compression or not fuel shouldnt be sitting top of the piston. IF its a deal cylinder it will show lol..... thanks...
