Yeah im gunna need atleast 10 or 12mm spacers which is going to require extended studs. Luckily theres nothing really wrong with my stock brakes so i can do it little by little since i dont make tons of money. Thanks for the help guys love the development of this thread!
I just bought a 96 mitsubishi galant ecu off ebay for 30 bucks. Uses the same plugs. The only problem is you cant release the pins from the connector. Not really a problem so to speak, just makes soldering more tedious.
Alright. Thanks guys. I kinda had the feeling that i was gunna have to run spacers. So that means extended lugs and moreee work. I just want all these parts finally on my car! Thanks again everyone!
No i understand hvyman. But when i mocked up my caliper with the supra rotor on, it was soo close it just took the paint off the caliper, so what im saying is, if the benz rotor is even just 3mm thicker at the mounting surface, it will be enough to clear the rim. Thanks
Quick, odd question...how much thicker are the R350 rotors at the actual mounting surface over the supra ones? Reason i ask is because i think a 10mm spacer would juuustttt get my rims to clear the calipers, so a slightly thicker rotor may give me just enough room to play with. Thanks fellas!
I actually got rid of my ranger last year i havent updated my sig. Sold the truck and bought an 87 NA 5spd supra for winter. Most people look really puzzled when i say that. But its high mileage, tusty, and just generally beat up.
Hey 2 fellow non-NYC, new yorkers! More central NY than WNY but still. And to contribute to original topic. I bought a kevinM one. And its the kitties titties. 170 or so reallyy isnt that bad its a quality part and you gotta pay to play!
Am i the only one who had issues with the merc caliper bolts? Just did a mock up to see if my wheels would clear (gunna need a 10mm spacer) and the shank of the caliper bolt didnt fit into my knuckles? Do i have to drill out the holes in the knuckle? Maybe some bolts without a stepped shank?
I havent installed the setup yet! Sorry that was rather unclear. I have calipers, first step is to see if my wheels clear the calipers, then i gotta check the diameter of the rings on my car, if theyre 67mm im gunna get rotors and throw this kit on, if theyre not 67 im gunna buy the rings i...
http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=351203481864&alt=web heres my plan if the rings that are already on my car arent the right size. Yeah plastic is cheap, but aluminum is strong(er). If anything is too close tollerence, some light sanding should take care of things
Soooo the 350z ones (judging by height) should take an EXTRA 4 or 5mm with the Merc W220 caliper? Also the R350 rotor is sliiightly thicker and a couple pounds heavier? This leads me to believe it might be a bit more fade resistant? Ive made my decision personally im gunna run the Merc r350...
The only clearence issues noted in this thread is the dust shield (kinda obvious when going to any bigger rotor) and spacking the caliper out 4 or 5mm. Just wondering what the comparisons between the 350z and r350 rotors are? Price and measurement wise.
Well the r350 needs the hub centric rings. I would guess priced are similar being that the 350z brembo brake rotors would be marked up "sports" or "racing" rotors. The R350 rotors can be had pretty cheap on rock auto. Im going with those just on the grounds that they should be a little beefier...
Ahhh ok that makes sense. Why use the smaller rotor though? Ultimately the caliper dictates clearence no? Im using the s500 calipers and the R350 rotor when it comes time to bolt my kit on. Still like seeing all the info in this thread.
I saw the 350z touring rotor used also. But my thinking was the R class rotor might be better if its heavier (mire metal for less fade) plus the R class is a heavyyyy vehicle as is the S class (both over 4000lbs) which makes me think its plenty for a mk3. Anybody able to do a comparison of the R...
Better get a set of calipers atleast! The ebay used market is drying up! If your current stuff is in need of replacement i see no reason not to do it. Itd probably cost about the same as replacing with stock stuff.
