Check the egr cooler. its on the back of the head, near the firewall. I had this problem and it was coming from there.

You need to clear out your inbox, but maybe I have the names of the parts mixed up but in the first pic there are two water neck/Thermostat housing things on the table. If thats not the part your looking for then are talking about the part that the Thermostat sits in that connects to the block...

I would have to agree with you on something getting into the freshly machined pores. You should have had the machine shop clean the block.

You may want to get that fixed before you wreck your car. A bad alignment can break things after awhile.
