Its rod knock. Mine did the samething and you didn't hear it all the time and I thought it was just valve tapping so I just drove it that way... little did I know it was number 4 con rod bearing... I found out when I was driving to work and the con rod broke and then I needed a new engine...
I did it a few months ago and I didn't cut anything, didn't even know this thread existed... just do as arron stated on the first page. That's how I did it.
I did the same swap last year to keep my car on the road so I could still go to work. Its funny reading this thread I know exactly how you feel. Good luck with the car
Its a good idea to rebuild a engine you get from a importer. You no idea on the condition of the engine. Most likely the twin turbos will need ti be rebuilt. I mean if you wanna put a mystery engine in and boost it up and blow it... then thats gonna suck. Or you might get lucky. If your 7m is...
these guys are right. i had the same issue with my engine i thought it was in the head. so i ripped the engine out to give her a rebuilt and thats what i found. good luck with her
My supra is my daily and I live in NYC but mine isn't mint like yours, I'm working on getting it there and when I do ill also get another car to keep my supra that way. Do what you feels best
what do you want to do with the motor? is it gonna stay a N/A or are you gonna go N/A-T? all depends on what you want if your gonna keep it N/A then replace the HG with a Stock one and torque the head bolts to 75-85 FT-lbs... theres no point in going MHG if its gonna stay n/a. if your going...
i second that. if its a lose you could live thats fine like top up the antifreeze every few weeks but if you have to top it off every few days then good luck replaving that gasket... its a major pain in the Di(k
no it wont eat up the filters but it will contaminate it. you wanna change it out each time you flush with fresh oil so if you do 2 clean motor oil flushes you want a new filter on there each time, and you wouldnt need that much diesel 1-2 quarts is more than enough, but i wouldnt clean my motor...
no cant be that transmissions are simple they either work or dont... according to the TSRM page MT-3
problem: hard to shift or wont shift
Probable cause: spline on input shaft dirty or burred, transmission faulty
Remedy: repair as necessart, disassemble and inspect trans
rip that sucker...
yea it would work but i would fill with motor oil run it for a seconds or so and then drain and then fill it with fresh motor oil once or twice just to be on the safe side... cause the diesel and/or kerosene will thin your oil and if there's enough fuel mixed in with your lube oil you WILL have...
i dont like the sound of that. i have 2 trans 1 with 200k mi and one with 95k mi and they've been out of my cars several times and they havent had that problem...
i say give that a shot, it'll only take 15 min other than that i dont think it sounds good but before i say anything else im...
it might be better to get a 3in elbo for your turbo i know they sell them, or if you can weld make your own... you can get the flanges for the CT26, the O2 sensor and for the 3in dp... i wouldnt advise welding the dp to the turbo eblo most likely the dp is stainless and the elbo is cast iron...
if you want all day 500 hp and a crisp throttle responce then go LS... i love turbos and i'm building my 7m for 400hp just for my targa but when thats all done i plan on going LS3/6spd trans in my hard top. the LS is gonna give you all that power and it'll and keep it there
