Hello guys.
I'm going new turbo setup next season and it's going to be something big (GT4202 or bigger). Of course I need new header so I have to decide between options:
1) divided housing, divided manifold, single wastegate (cheapest)
2) divided housing, undivided manifold, single wastegate...
and one note to all: I don't call probes bad pistons. I just haven't luck with them (wrong machining, etc)... And as for melting - I was running at the edge (22 psi on pump, 27 psi on pump+WI) + one night fuel line blowed and I was running lean (at least one 1/4 mile pass). So I don't blame...
Thanks for the comment, Rich. I haven't decided with new engine yet most likely it will be low-compression slug with some custom pistons (or may be vice versa). Anyhow I'll be asking SM opinion including such reputable guys like you..
And now is time for getting some funds for new setup :)
thank you for explanation guys, anyhow I've already assembled that motor using probes (with _big_ troubles) and melted one piston (yeah, detonation source was at sharp edges it valve pockets)... So no more probes for me. Time to go .060 wisecos... =(
Hello guys.
A friend of mine have swapped his 3.7 with 4.1 torsen. He likes it, but 4.1 is too short. So can torsen itself be installed into 3.7 case? Or vice versa (3.7 gear set into torsen case).
Thank you.
Sorry for hijacking, but I've burned valve some time ago too. It was built head bought from member here with O/S valves. One exhaust valve got hole and another (same cylinder #2) has cracks...
What is the reason? I suspect either bad valves or wrong working seat area (wrong valve job)...
thank you... I'm installing new engine harness on friend's car and it's strange... ECU plugs are 89+, but chassis side is pre 88 (like on my own car)... Looks like I'm going to have some soldering job...
Thank you, Ian. But why don't you advance ign after peak TQ point much? I've found (when dyno tuned friends 2JZ) that more timing at hight RPM helps to smooth torque curve (it falls not so fast). Never dyno tuned 7M, is it different at that aspect?
Ian, sorry for small offtopic, but I got a question... How much do you advance after peak TQ till redline?
PS: it would be great to see some realy dyno-tuned cell-by-cell 7M timing maps (not built using rule of thumb like mine)...
