I went to ol peppy boys and they let me look in the back with all of the other preformed hoses, so I only had to trim one end, and it had all of the spiffy bends like the stock one. If you use any old hose it will work, but may get pinched when you bend it.
I can't help but love how seriously he takes himself, maybe he wouldn't have to go to home depot for parts if he would stop spending so much money @ the "night at the roxbury outlet store"

I have heard good things about used indy car bits and pieces that they auction off on "the bay", they replace that stuff all the time so I would think that they would be in great condition still, but I have no first hand experience
I was leaning towards krylon for plastics, in the gloss black color. I just didn't want something that was going to eat away the plastic, and/or fade quickly
