Metal Head Gasket bore size question

Very true. I forgot about that helping the seal. I was mainly thinking... wouldn't a 84mm gasket have a more efficient combustion than a 86mm because the gap would change the flow (aerodynamics) and size of the combustion chamber (compression ratio)? I know it's a small difference but spread...

Metal Head Gasket bore size question

I'm planning on buying a MHG soon and I noticed the stock bore size (about 83-84mm) is less than the normal bore size on most gaskets (86mm). Woudn't it be best to have the closest bore possible to reduce the change in compression ratio and overall efficiency? I normally would research more...

    Bhg???

Awesome. That makes me feel better. I looked in my Fluidyne to check the coolant and luckily everything still looks nice and yellowish from all the antifreeze i put in when i parked. Honestly I expected the coolant to be reddish from rust as it was years ago but thank god I didn't see any oil...

    Bhg???

Today I finally got my 89 supra started up after at least 7 months of being parked. When I parked it, it was running better than ever Turns out, it was the alternator that was the problem, so I finally changed it today and it started right up; even with odd mixture of gas from last year, gas...

Why won't it start? PLEASE HELP!

Ok I finally had to have my car towed here to my house so at least I can try things immediately now. I tried everything I can think of and its still acting the same way. Crank crank fire, crank crank fire ect. (sometimes it backfires). I tried using a jumper just as 89supracrazy suggested but...

Why won't it start? PLEASE HELP!

Wow that's great advice. I can't believe all these years I've driven my Supra and not known that. Thanks I'll remember that one and try it first thing. ________ SoSquirt4U

Why won't it start? PLEASE HELP!

I doubt that's the problem but its a good thought. Once before years ago the CPS wires were preventing me from starting and I just touched them and it was fine. When that happens it won't even try to crank though so that can't be it. I'll try it anyways when I go back next time just to be sure...

Why won't it start? PLEASE HELP!

Ok so I parked my 89' Supra at my x-band members' house close to a month ago and I can't seem to get it to start for the life of me! It ran fine when it was parked but during the 3 weeks or so it was there it's been in the teens outside so Im betting thats a factor. The first time I tried...

Polyurethane Trans mounts for an 89' supra?

Yea thats the shop that rebuilt it. I think he ended up paying $2600 or something which isn't bad compared to the $3275 they have advertised. After talking it over with guys from IPT it sounds like my friend is finally convinced that he'll still one day need a GM tranny. The craziest part is...

    7M-GTE Build 650hp+ needs advice

Yea, I'm sure once my buddy drives this beast, he'll realize that it needs suspension and brake upgrades. I doubt he'll spare any expense. The fuel kit came from Suprastore.com and is just like their $2000 2jz kit but for the 7M. From what I understand it has twin walbros, the hanger, braided...

    Head Gasket thickness selection

What are the benefits or flaws of using a 3.0mm MHG? My buddy just bought a prebuilt 7m with an HKS 3.0mm head gasket and plans to build as much as possible. What would the approximate compression ratio be with a 3mm? Normally I wouldn't ask such a common question but 3mm hasn't been mentioned...

Polyurethane Trans mounts for an 89' supra?

Haha, well said. My guess is my buddy will see this as a challenge and take it as far as it can go. I'm sure we'll find out. Thanks for all the advice. The tranny should be back from the shop any day now. Once its in we'll install his 3.5" exhaust and see how she runs. We'll have pics and...

Polyurethane Trans mounts for an 89' supra?

Awesome, thanks for the advice. We'll use poly motor mounts and the new trans mounts for now til it becomes a problem. The reason we decided it'd be worth the $3000 to rebuild his A340 is for one, because the transmission needed to be rebuilt anyways and he wanted reliability. Second, money...

    Thanks dude.

    AEM question

I could really use an AEM install guide too. My friend has everything ready to go, we're just waiting to research as much as possible so it's done right. He's planning on doing a rebuild and adding a FFIM and big turbo so we may wait to install all at once so it'd only need to be tuned for one...
