    BHG Crew... SOUND OFF!!!!!

The original 5M-GE on my Mk2 had that issue, All of a sudden a huge cloud of smoke was coming out and the radiator had a hole in it. turns out all that was wrong was a hole in the upper radiator hose. run a compression test after replacing that radiator and see if its really a BHG. Best of luck...

Rod Knock = thrown rod :(

yea, my problem was I only did work on the top end. I did no low end work on the engine, figuring I could get away with it. It's not the end of the world, assuming I can sell the head which is in great shape.

Rod Knock = thrown rod :(

Well, I pulled the motor this weekend and found the following chunks in the oilpan. The other bolt was in there as well but I lost it. it wasn't bent or anything however. Cyl 3 was the cyl that had the rod break. I also pulled the head and fortunately there is no damage that I can see to...

after winter start = no start

Does it crank over with starter fluid? many a time has that helped in diagnostic of issues on cars for me. if It does, its a fuel issue, obviously. If not, check spark and compression.

    BHG?,Valve seals? carbon build up

When was your last oil change? I would do one and check for coolant in your oil. You can never have too often an oil change and oil is relatively cheap. Its a great way to check for a BHG, from my experiances.

Will a 92 engine harness and ECU work in an 87

My memory says no, somethings are different on the body plugs for the harness wiring, but I am not sure. Let someone else post. I have an 88 harness and ECU that I don't need however.

    Headbolts

Just wanted to say I got the OEM bolts. For an N/a they are perfectly fine. I got em through HPF and would recommend them as well.

Rod Knock = thrown rod :(

Yes i did change the oil. However, after the gasket "blew" i drove it about 2 miles home. The damage was probably then. Its not a huge crisis, other than the fact i put quite a bit of money into the BHG last fall. I already purchased my future planned motor about 3 weeks ago, but was planning on...

Rod Knock = thrown rod :(

when on my way to work about a week ago I noticed the car was producing slightly less power than usual, and within a min had rod knock. Obviously, I imedietly exit'ed the highway, but by the time I got to the end of the off ramp It had thrown a rod. My guess is that when the headgasket blew last...

So N/A guys, what exhausts are you running?

i'm running a cherrybomb Glasspack which has a downward facing flange out of it directly off the header. It is incredibly loud and I love it. The previous owner had it setup on his Mk3, and i love the attention it gets at my college in my mk2. No one expects this tone out of an 'old toyota', and...

    Starting problem (a/f ratio?)

The EGR isn't fully blocked off because during the re installation of the head and intake manifold, I must have missed one of the brackets because I have one of the block off plates that a previous owner had made. When I get the car on a lift later this week I will install that, i just haven't...
