I run an auto locker in the front of one of my wheeling rigs that is still IFS, and it has held up fine, but it is only used on the trail. Pavement and cvs might not work well with an auto locker for a vehicle that is being driven daily. While an ARB would cost more to start with, the...
I would avoid an auto locker, the increase rear tire wear, they are noisy, and their on road characteristics aren't the best. If you are after a posi type set-up, I would opt with an ARB locking differential. The ARB operates off of an air compressor, when engaged both axles are locked...
If you aren't familiar with Line-X, it might be worth it to swing by a shop and take a look at it. It isn't a thick rubber coating, but a thin hard plastic like coating with a fairly smooth finish. It wouldn't be any thicker(about an 1/8") than a few layers of fiberglass that you will likely...
Just go buy a counter holding bar, or find someone to make you one. The bar will bolt to the pulley and all you to accsess the crank pulley bolt. You will need something like it to torque the pulley bolt when you put iot back together, so you might as well and buy it to take it off.
You might consider spraying it in Line-x, you can even have it sprayed in different colors. Once it is done in Line-x it is all but impossible to destroy, a buddy of mine used to own his own line-x franchise, and he sprayed all kinds of crap with it to demonstrate its durability to customers...
When looking at metric tires you have to look at all the numbers together to determine the actual size of the tire. There is a metric tire calculator at the end of this page of Drivetrain Calculators, that you might want to look at.
A 225/45/17 tire and a 255/40/17 tire are basically the same...
12 gauge shotgun would is the best home defense fire arem, as mentionded chamber a round has its own effect. You also don't have to aim it to hut your target at close quarters, and the shot wont tend to penatrate walls and possibly kill others in the house.
If you don't want dogs/can't...
A search using "Safari Rack", should give you a list of retailers, and any retailer that sells them for early Ford Bronco's or Landcruisers will have the gutter mount brackets. Most companies that sell the safari racks sell them w/o the mounting hardware, the same for the light, shovel, and...
Yes the gutter mountrack mounts will attach to the edge there over the second set of windows. The bracket I referred to as a Bronco bracket allows you to add a gutter where you don't have one. With the Runner's cap you would mount the bracket to the area behind the last window. Unfortunately...
Just realizing you are in Aust. We here in the U.S lost the r series in with the end of the 1st gen Tacoma with the 3.4. The 4 cyl. that replaced the 22re, used a w59. I guess Toyota figured since the U.S. didn't use the Hilux like the rest of the world, it didn't need to be built as tough...
I mounted to 1"x1" square tube rails to the top of the Runner's shell, and then mounted the rack to the rails using the horseshoe style electrical conduit straps. I made the rack out of the galvanized electrical conduit, so the straps were a direct fit. I have some close up photo's, I will...
A buddy of mine has replaced the TC by just removing the valve cover as well, but at times he can be an idiot savant when it comes to mechanics. I have found I spend more time trying to be lazy then simply following the FSM. If you don't have one here is link to a '93 Toyota Truck FSM. It...
Here is a pic of my '91 X-cab. It has been regeared and I built everything to be as light as possible, but w/gear the 22re(4k on fresh rebuild) struggles in the mountains where my 3.0 '90 doesn't. It isn't all that bad since I don't have to drive it daily or more than about 100 miles to a...
Nice clean find, similar in looks to one I restored a about 6 years ago. If you find it a bit noisy, I found stuffing insulation along the sides(what would be thebed in a truck), cut done on teh road noise significantly.
