Those turbos are form a 4.5 diesel LCF. Those little things boost great. You have 10psi by 1200rpms on that motor. The funny thing is in the 3rd picture down you see the oil feed line and a blue sticker. That sticker says: don not use this as an engine lift
I know its the valve seals causing the smoke which sucks because my head was supposedly rebuilt 4k miles ago. I dont think the valve seals are causing it to hard start. My nova has had bad seals for a while now and it will always fire right up.

I have a walbro on the way I have only seen boost once or twice. I am aware of what will happen if I push it on the stock pump. Im just trying to get it running right.
I jumped the FP and B+ and it still didnt start right up. It would sputter then die. I opened the TB slightly and it started up like it used to. Im going to check the ISC to make sure its still working correctly.
I didnt even tell you how much boost I was running so how can you come to this conclusion. Im only on 8psi right now and Im not worried. If I was boosting 16psi then I would be worried. Ill jump the fp and B+ this morning to cold start it and see what happens.

I thought the na mkIV used a w58 like the na mkIII. If thats true the w58 and the r154 use the same shifter. Some one will have to chime in that knows for sure but I thought it would work.
I bought one of these off of suprarich a few weeks ago and it fit perfect. I used to have the BIC DDP but I cant compare it because that was with a stock ct and now I have a 57 trim. It sure does pull harder on 8psi with the 57 then it did at 13 with the stock ct though.
