Digging up an old thread - but I've been waiting for a local New Zealand supplier to get in stock the 2JZ rings. They still haven't and they don't know when they'll get them in.
DriftMotion won't ship to New Zealand.
Toyota New Zealand want $500 for a set of rings
So I'm starting to wonder...
Hey all
Just plastigage'd my mains and they were all almost exactly the same - 0.025"
I am using 0.25 O/S bearings.
Is this a bit too loose?
I'm planning to make around 450-500hp
Cheers

But all you have to do to make the 7M reliable is completely rebuild it with ARP head studs and new bearings and do something to the oiling system so it actually works when cornering.
So simple.....
I think the valid point that S A Supra was trying to make was that Toyota needed a better power plant so they went JZ while the 7M was still on the factory line.
It's like replacing your dead cat with a new one before the old has actually died.
Bit of a slap in the face for the 7M.
But I'm...
Hi all
I used to have my 4424 Stinger on my 1G-GTE and only used the sensor off my CPS.
On the 2JZ-GTE there is one on the crank and 2 on the intake cam.
Which of these would I use when wiring up the stinger? The trigger on the crank and the sync sensor on one of the cam sensors?
And...
Has anyone used these?

About 1/16th the price compared to Toyota - they're $355 for Toyota New Zealand!!!
Yeah I get that. But my crank has apparently already been machined to take 0.01"/0.25mm oversized bearings.
On my crank are the markings 2222244
That would assume the last 2 journals were originally machined a little more from factory and from factory took slightly larger bearings to...
Appreciate you help, but I'm still not clear on one thing.
If my crank has been ground to accept 0.01" (0.25mm) larger than stock bearings, what diameter should my crank journals be?
The bearings that came out of the crank do have 0.25 stamped on them - but I'm curious as to what diameter my...
Yeah but next size compared to what? I mean, from Toyota or any other bearing supplier you can buy standard bearing size, or 10thou (0.25mm) oversized, or 20thou (0.5mm) oversized.
Is the oversize of the bearings in reference to a base size of the crank +/- a certain amount. Or is it a...
The crank has been machined. I was told it was machined to 10thou over. I guess that's why all the measurements (as accurate as I can with callipers at least) are the same.
I just want to confirm the bearings I need are in fact 10 thou over, and out of curiosity, what does the 10thou oversize...
I've measured the crank and the big end size is 51.75-51.8mm and the mains are 61.9mm. I measured these with digital callipers. So they might be slightly out. I will try and get crank around to my mates who has a micrometer to get an accurate reading.
But I'm just wondering, when you buy...
