hey everyone my 87 turbo has bad valve seals, but i can get my hands on a 1991 7mgte with an hks metal headgasket and a ct26 with 55k on it. I was just wondering if for the swap i will need an ecu or if everything is strait up plug and play. I searched and for swaping into an na i know you need the ecu for the year of your engine so is it the same for this kind of swap?

i swapped in a used 87 motor into my 89 a year ago. a couple of the coolant sensors didn't plug in, so i pulled off the housing and swapped them out.

I think just swapping the thermostat housing is pretty much all you gotta do. The pre 89 has less. Almost everything on my motor is 89. The block and thermostat housing is 87. My 87 wiring harness has no left over plugs and everything fit.
