I don't get why Toyota stopped making parts for the supras, you look at older cars then ours and they still make direct replacement body panels. Like on mopars, Chevys and all.

Had to ask if anyone knew why they stopped?

They would make a good amount of money of body panels since the supras rust in a lot of spots.

Because in 1991 Toyota could only sell 2500 cars, and in 1992 they could only sell 1500. Or something like that. Of course, they missed the market and made mistakes. Many companies just "cut their losses" rather than fix what was wrong (price).

That sucks, I just don't get why there isn't any aftermarket body panels still made. I thought by now someone would have mocked something up.

It's all about numbers. Supra's are rare when compared to domestic stuff like Mustangs and Classic Chevy's and Mopar, etc...

There's a huge aftermarket for those classics because there are a ton of people restoring those cars. Even if there was a huge surge in Supra followers it wouldn't come close to those other examples because there just aren't that many to begin with.

I was watching some car show on TV. This is a while back, so not Velocity (sucks anyway). The interviewer asked at the midway booth does he think there will be a day when there will be more Honda rods sold than Chevy. And he said they already are. I think it was Crower. This is more than 10 years ago. Honda Civics are sold by the gross if you want "JDM" so bad and aftermarket support.

As long as people keep buying parts in high enough quantities, they will keep making them. People haven't been buying enough parts to make it worth their while. Why not? Because they didn't sell enough of the cars when they were in production and there are evn less now and the people who have them don't spend enough to buy the parts.
