Which way does the stock clutch face?

Right, but the other picture of it sitting in the bell house shows the raised section as well. The other side of the clutch hub is mostly flat.

Not really it can only go back in one way and work ;)

If you sit it on the flywheel backwards the RAISED SECTION catches on the flywheel bolts.

As I said earlier most clutches are built this way with the damper hub inside the pressure plate away from the flywheel bolts.

That makes sense to me. This is my first time putting in a 5-speed, and I didn't remove the one from the old car so I'm trying to figure it out on my own with the TSRM as much as possible. I hate bugging the gurus with simple questions.
