Where can a get a direct source for an RPM signal?

I realize that. It was a very informative read. I was just under the car yesterday and would've liked to finish up the wiring then ..
The link says it NE sensor produces an alternating current waveform, NOT a square wave. I understand its a rpm signal but would i need to connect some type of square wave signal generator? It also says its a critical signal so i just want to be 100% before i tap into it.

I don't think you should tap the factory harness at all. Get a plug and play stand alone, or use a stand alone that has its own harness.
