can i use the 2jzge tranny on the on 1jz is the bell housing the same? i have a 1jz on my gs300 but i don't wan't to get a custom drive shaft i was thinking about using my 2jzgte tranny.some guy told me to use the 2jzgte tranny and i could use my gs drive shaft. can any one help me please.
What tranny would fit the 1jz?

Wait a sec. The bell housings arent the same IIRC. The 1JZ mounts to the R154 tranny and the 2JZ mounts to the V160 tranny. They are totally different.

I thought that the the V160 bellhousing [2JZ 6-Speed Getrag] was integrated with the tranny? It's bolt pattern where it mates to the engine is the same shape/bolt pattern as the 1JZ's R154 bellhousing. This is why the R154 can be used with a 2JZ.
The transmissions for a 1JZ to use would be:
R154 [5-speed manual]
W58 [5-speed manual]
A342 [4-speed auto]
A340E [4-speed auto]
V160 [6-speed manual]
These all bolt up, but of course you never know how easy or hard it would be to integrate the shifter and driveshaft - might have to modify these items on different cars/applications.

I believe the GS is the Aristo in Japan, which comes with a 2JZ. Mounting a 1JZ should be no problem, but I don't understand why he didn't just get an Aristo front clip.supradan22 said:
