Nothing but mobil synthetic 15w50.

After all the indy car engines I have seen torn down and inspected, I will never run any thing else.

The engines after 600 miles look new inside, after turning 10,500rpm for 2 hours wide open thats quite a feat.

I had that same problem! Do NOT use 10w30 or any thing 30 it's too thin for our older motors! I went with 15w50 Royal Purple Synthetic and it is awsome! the thicker oil gives better oil preshure! The Royal Purple is soo smooth and i would change brands for anything! Although i hear Castrol Syntec is great stuff too!:biglaugh:

I use reg old Valvoline 10W30 and my car runs like a raped ape and not a single drip or smoke. I dont believe in synth. Never liked it.

The regular Mobil One 10-30? The red capped stuff? How many miles on it when you dump? I wish I lived closer to you. Anyone on the west coast dumping a group IV or V syn at low miles and want to part with it for shipping and a few cents on the quart to make up for the hassle?

lol

know what you mean

i change my amsoil twice a year. ;)

10-14k miles when I "dump" it.

the supra was living on ammsoil. Switching to royal purple 10w30

btw I have taken apart two 7ms, one was syth the other was dino. Man can you tell which one lived on the dino oil. That motor had brown caked oil all over the valve train

I'm starting off w/Mobil1 10w30 (~$21 for 5qts at WalMart).... We change the oil often and that's where we found it cheapest. We also use it in the fiance's MKIV N/A. If it causes me any issues, I'll go to 15w50... we'll see with this 2J, since it has about 65K miles (I think).

greddy makes oil now, it comes in three different styles. Ones for small tuned turbos, ones for t88's, and ones for vtecs. I'm not shitting you thats what it said in the add. its sad that people will actually use that instead of looking at the weights. probably good oil, although its probably some other company rebottled for greddy.

I hope you're not using the Synthetic for the initial break in..... :(

Hmmm.... I though about just using some cheap dino-stuff and changing after about a week, but what's the difference (other than a few $$s)? 10w30 would be "light" enough to start off with (regular or synthetic).... no? :icon_conf

Most multivis oils are chock full of friction modifiers and additives, these can prevent the rings from bedding in.

Synthetic is one step worse in new motors as it's very slippery!
