ive never used anything but mobile 1 full syn, used it once and have loved it ever since, read some great reviews about it too. ive been told to stay away from royal purple, ive heard several cases from different people saying after a few miles after the oil change some sort of catastrophic failure occured,, whether its fact or coincidence, i was never inclined to find out

you need to search my friend, this topic has been covered countless times

While it has been covered, a friend of mine wrote this and I'm here to help him back it up. Everyone should read it and try to make our forum the best one out there if it isn't already.

I personally use Royal Purple 0w 30. I also use Red Line 10w 30 from time to time. I change my oil every five thousand miles and I only use Wix filters.

There's actually a fairly simple answer and much of what you hear from others will be misinformed. Read the oil section for starters. And although most don't know or remember I first mentioned GC 0-30 on this forum I no longer use it. Times change...

Shell Rotella T 5w40 full synthetic

Good oil. Bad for your catalyst though.

I use whatever Group III is on sale. The irony of learning all there is to know about oil is you eventually learn that, with a few exceptions, for a DD it really doesn't matter what oil is used. Nearly everyone who makes the effort arrives at the same conclusion because it's true. The rest are slaves to marketing...

I've been running the Rotella 15w40 since we got the 1j running. Where might I find this 5w40 Rotella? Not a whole lot of selection among parts places here... Checker, Vatozone, Napa, Carquest, and that's it.

No catalyst to worry about though, that is one good thing about living in BFE. :)

Royal Purple 10w40 is what I dump into my 1JZ-GTE.

Look in the diesel engine section. Its made for diesel engines so its really good for Turbo engines.
