hears the rundown got a new 7m to replace the bhg motor in my 89.. decided to shoot for a lot more power this time my new motor is

.30 over, Je pistons, shot peened rods, cometic gasket, arp studs, shimmed oil pump mod, adjustable cam gears, 550cc injectors

I also took it upon myself to buy a cx racing t61, driftmotion soft line kit, 3" turbo elbow, lexus afm..

now my plan might change a little because im on a quest for 480 at the very least, but I'm wondering what hp level the lexus Afm and 550's are good to and/or what afc or stand alone do I NEED to get to my power level goal I've been looking at the PNP AEM, but if its not needed I was thinking about the NEO or Maft pro. Ive searched and didnt find the limits of the lex/550 mod but i can ditch em both if i need to go bigger and MAP sensor. Ive never honestly worked with any of the piggy backs or stand alone but I'm down to try anything once any help would be awesome thanks guys

but could a piggy back get me there? and still be reliable
Im trying to do it as cheap as possibly safe, this is kind of a grudge budget build to show my dad what he shouldve done with it when he owned it lol for the car and everything i have i got right at 1500 bucks in it

No a piggyback won't get you there reliably. And trying to do it on the cheap will only show your dad that he made the right choice.

from what i've read getting a 7M in that power range requires dead on tuning, so I would not risk it with a piggyback system you would be much better off with AEM or ProEFI anyway to make sure everything is in line.

Those "J"unk "D"ilapidated "M"otors were the problem. Everyone thinks that anything that has a "JDM" means that it's the be it all end to being the best.rofl He could have bought 600.00 wisecos, 450.00 Eagle rods, and 1500.00 for a standalone, 130-200.00 for a metal head gasket, 500.00 for a machine assembly at most and a tune and never look back at the headaches he had with used junk yard who knows how many mile motors that failed.

You can't have cheap and reliable period, and installing less than 720cc injectors to make 450-500 at the wheels is a recipe for unreliability, and failure.

well I knew standalones are high, but what kind of power would a SAFC Neo or MAFT pro be able to make, lets say if I keep the 550's you think I could get 450hp to the tire? I mean i want to break the 500 whp barrier with it but its not a HAVE too..

I could save a while and keep the car down and get the 1000cc injectors and a standalone, but my problem is the harness for the most part. Or I could use the lexus afm, the 550's and a piggy back of some sort if it will get me close enough to 500whp to be happy ill do that with either the denso fuel pump or a walbro

the parts I need either way are
afpr, good 3" downpipe and full exhaust, fuel pump, and some sort of AFC or EMS..

haha I know I tried to get him to let me rebuild the first one that had rod knock and refused "he didnt want an unreliable motor"......so he gave 1500 for a JDM jmgte [the car never ran right after that one] the cps was off a tooth and the headlights pop up when it started i refused to work on it at that point.. but now she is mine so I have to do her right

Mustang, OK
if you want a piggyback.. get a map ecu 1,2,3 If you want a standalone on the cheap.. Go megasquirt.. build it yourself..

if you have money.. buy a Haltech or ProEfi..

As for injectors.. Read this.. and follow it.
Injector sizing chart..
as for basic math injectors size is what horsepower they could push.. at 100%
so 500cc= 500whp
440cc= 440whp
assuming perfect world and sufficient fuel..
we all know its impossible thought so you don't want to run over 80% on either you pump, nor injectors..

If you want 500whp.. get some rc 750s Period.. if you want more power get 1000's ..

why don't you just shoot for something more feasible with the mods you have like 350-400whp. That will be plenty fun on the street and I reckon that will be enough to make your dad jealous. :)

Well I have a 423 rwhp 347 stroker mustang and I want faster and different if I'm gonna do it that's why I wanted over 480-500 at the tire.. I was looking at dr tweaks website and he's building harnesses for haltech and pro efi now?? Hmmm
