....is dead. my 1989 Ford Areostar, 5 speed, manual windows, manual door locks, no tape deck or cd, body rust in a few places, made its last trip on sunday july 23, 2006. i was driving on the highway, sounded alittle weird, couldnt maitain speed up hills. and when i go to hit the nreaks when traffic slows the engine dies. i had to drive it all the way home with my foot on the gas so it wouldnt die. got it to the mechanic on monday, diagnosis?:

1 Gallon short on coolant
BHG
3 burnt valves
no compression in 2 cylenders

so after 17 years and 75,000 miles (yes 75,000 not 175k) "the ford" as it was known has died. and i swear to god if my parents get it towed away i'm going to rev it to death. we'll have to see but i promis if i do it there will be video. to bad the tach stoped working a month ago. RIP dear ford. *sniff*

or a toyota pickup. Those damn things last FOREVER, going on 275k miles stock motor no rebuild. Feed it oil coolant and gas and its a happy little motor ::pats his 22R::

Its been in 2 accidents that i know of (probably ALOT more), including being spun around 3 1/2 times and getting hit @ 40+mph on the passender side rear tire. the truck stalled out hooked up the battery again and started right back up. Meanwhile the 2000 ford escort that got hit died and was totalled. Its towed everything including supras, VW buses, cavaliers, buicks even a 240sx S13. Its been beaten and beaten on and it just smiles and says "More Please". Wonderful trucks wonderful motors probably the absolute greatest motor toyota has ever built as far as reliability goes.

not to mention if you throw a 300watt soundsystem and a decent deck in there it makes for one bitchin cruising mobile and road trip vehicle. just off road whenever you need to and have the good warm feeling that you can have some pimpin toons as you 4x4..

not to brag but ive ran my truck without coolant for.. 15-20 miles without coolant and all the temp did is go to 1/2 from 1/4 simply amazing. I swear this motor doesnt even really need water its got a will to live...

Ok enough with the jokes.
but seriously, when I get a DD, its gonna be a gutted 2 seat MKII. Trunk space FTW.

haha yeah, i would do anything for another DD/beater. i dont even care what it would be. but i like the idea of a truck. like a little 4 banger truck so you get good gas milage. or even a civic hatch. just drive the piss outta it untill 300k miles only doing regular maitinance.

for awhile we thought the ford would never die. its made the worst knocking noise for the last 10k miles but kept running. everyone in the family hated that damn car. but i didnt have to worry about keeping it clean, just throw that oil drain in the back and never mind the stain it leaves. and the thing was a beast in the, snow + empty parking lot + RWD manual = awsome.

They don't need oil either. I saw the little oil gauge looked a little low so I went home and checked, nothing on the dipstick. Poured in a full quart, still nothing. Poured in that helf court laying around for helping seal fittings on the supra, still nothing. Then i was like hell, too little...too much what's the difference and pured in another quart, just below full now! Oil pressure is much better now, but it doens't pull up hills in 4th like it did when it was low on oil, now i use 3rd. I'm looking for an 85 celica convertible for ny new DD, already got the 22r, looks close enough to a mkII supra, and the f'ing top comes off!!!
