We should petition to have these guys make coilovers for our cars...

maxs max height is several inches lower then stock which is why Anthony hows testing them out is raising his subframes to correct suspension geometery. also stances can go just as low as maxs

the only reason i'm raising my subframe is to correct the suspension geometry to compensate how low i am. At this point im already lower than stances, and could go even lower once i raise my subframe, if i wanted to.

the suspension for our cars is pretty much limited to any drop of roughly 3" or more. anything more than that, it would be beneficial to correct the geometry such as raising the subframe.

how can u raise the subframe? if it bolts up to the frame? I can only think of lowering the subframe by adding washers and longer bolts..
our subframe is a "floating design" ( comes stock with spacers) IIRC

and i would very much be interested in that kit

12/8 for the comfort version on their site but im sure you can call them and ask for any spring rate. they also offer swift spring for a little extra

Swift always seems overhyped to me
rather have Eibach ERS or Hyperco Hypercoil springs...

12/8 spring rates are weak for a mk3.. GL with that.

I have 14/10 IIRC, and it's soft IMO.

agreed. 12/8 is soft but i believe they can valvue for watever spring rate you want. i will give them a call my self friday and see what they offer and how much$$$.

my set up is 14/10 as well, the front is alittle to soft but the rear is perfect IMO (but i have not tracked the car this is my feeling from street and mountain driving)
im actually kinda browsing for some 16 rate springs but having a trouble finding a vender and the right company

yeah, 16/10 or 16/12 would be ideal for someone wanting a dual purpose street car.. even for strictly track, that would be best most likely; I disagree with *some* "track" coilovers at 18/14 (seems as though they're trying to fight body roll with stiffness instead of sway bars).

That is the "proper" way to do it, imo. I put "proper" in quotes because there is really no right or wrong with suspension tuning. But the problem with sways is the lateral load transfer that occurs. It transfers load from the unloaded inside tire, to the already overloaded outside tire...decreasing overall grip. Atleast when you use the coilover to control roll you do not decrease grip. Sways are used to fine tune the balance of the car.

I don't know whats up with all these really low front spring rates for MKiii though. It's like none of these companies have done the necessary legwork and figured out the installation ratio and roll rate. I'm running 23k/12k and the balance is perfect. And no it's not too stiff. With properly valved dampers the thing rides like a Cadillac, but body roll is really well controlled.

ya i cant image a 14 rear the 10 is already quite stiff. unless your solely track were roads are pristine i would be scared to come into a corner fast and hit a bump. and ya i agree that you dont need to go that high since a good sway bar will do the job even better

Why hasn't anyone mentioned custom valved Bilsteins?

I never undertstood the facination with adjusting dampening and rebound (with massive crosstalk until you get to the pro-coilovers from Penske etc) and all other parametners without even having a baseline shock dyno graph to show what it is actually doing.

What sounds better...no adjustment, or 32 magic clicks of adjustment?

I think I've just been around too many Formula D and Le Mans teams lol.. They make fun of the crazy springrates method all the time. But take into account that they also say some body roll isn't a bad thing
