Water leaking into side compartment in hatch

So whenever it is raining the compartment where the jack goes in my hatch fills with a ridiculous amount of water lol. I think it's also the reason why I can't go 1 week of rain without my left tail light blowing out lol. Where is the best place to check for a bad seal? Would it work to just drill a real small hole there so the water that collects can just drip out? Thanks

Could be tail light seals or hatch seal. Those would be the most likely.

Quarter window or hatch window would be after that be a little bit harder.

If you can have someone pour water over the hatch while your in there and look where its coming.
