Could use some help before I break something. I am dis assembling my 2JZ GTE VVTI to rebuild and having a problem removing the intake cam gear,

I am using the 2Jz Ge VVTi manual,
- Removed the Screw Plug with a 14mm hex wrench.
- Tried to remove the set bolt with a 10 mm hex wrench. Turning it counterclockwise - I broke the hex wrench.

Am I doing this correct?

Any insight would be good, I am a bit stuck right now.

Thanks
Steve

I I am using the following TSRM -
http://home.wjw.co.nz/Toyota/supras/EM (2JZ-GE).pdf

Page EM14, towards the bottom shows the VVTI Cam Gear.
Page EM18 shows exactly what I am trying to disassemble.

I was able to remove the 14mm Plug (counterclockwise)
I am trying to remove the 10mm set bolt.

I did have a 10mm 6 point hex wrench from sears (looks like a Allen wrench)
I am trying to turn the set bolt counterclockwise - it did not budge
I then used a breaker bar and broke the 10mm hex wrench!

Thanks for your help!
Steve

Mine came off fine I'm not sure that your doing anything wrong just sounds like you found a tough bolt! It should only be at 60 ft-lbs so it will be tough but shouldn't be breaking tools, like he said ^^ try a better socket and give her another go!
